21. Colonel Jesse S. Woodhull

Jesse moved to Orange County, N.Y., about the year 1753 and purchased land in Blooming Grove. Jesse was a delegate to the first Provincial Convention, on April 20, 1775. Jesse organized the first regiment in Cornwall and had a prominent part in the battle along the banks of the Hudson in the fall of 1777. After the war, he resumed a leading role in politics in Orange County. He was a member of the state convention which ratified the Federal Constitution on Jun. 17, 1788. Jesse was one of six first State Senators, those who represented the middle district of New York.
